The DOF is pretty big for a close up of this kind, i would have guessed stacking, what was your F/number?

Sometimes when I watch a sci-fi/alien movie with an outlandish alien creature, I think...there's no way a life form can look that radically different from humans.

And then amazing macro shots like yours of existing life on Earth serve as a reminder that creatures can be so incredibly alien-like in design and appearance. Simple ants are so common in nature, we see them everyday. But only close-up like this do we realize how amazingly unique they actually are.

Thanks for sharing this. Truly an incredible image.
